Training - Day One Belle

Belle had been awake for quite some time. The musher had let the dog team sleep out in the training field. The female rose from her sitting position and walked to the side of the enclosure closest to the house. She woofed once towards what she believed to be the musher's bedroom window. Tim Downs had the opportunity to open a huge sled dog training facility away from his house but he was a firm believer in the "pack" thing and preferred to keep the dogs at his house. In fact, on particularly cold nights he allowed the dogs to stay inside the house with him and his family. There were a few hired hands, but they only came in on weekdays.

Training - Day One Tundra

It seemed like eons had passed by, leaving the Czech Wolfdog behind after having graced the male or so long; for the first time, Tundra awoke and felt old. It was something of an odd feeling, awkward and frightening. But only a pup would admit they were scared of something that eventually happened to everyone and thing in the world. Time was an enemy to all, it seemed.

Half-opening his brown eyes, flicking his ears to help open them up, and hopefully grant their oldness some more vibrations to hear with, Tundra watched as the sun slowly rose. Soon, he heard the quiet woof of a teammate; Belle. She was a pretty one, Belle, but Tundra had not been interested in anything but his running for years now, and there were still more years to come with those empty feelings.

Lifting his head, Tundra put on a smile before he sneezed, stretching out his forelegs as he let his hindquarters rise up shakily. 'G'morning, Belle. I trust your sleep was well and adequate as it should be.' His deep voice was heavily accented, for Tundra came from the Northern territories far from where he was now. Yawning, a whine emanating from his throat as well, Tundra stood to his full height and shook out his coat, ignoring the creaking in his old bones; if he was lucky, the male would get this season and maybe one other under his belt before retirement came to claim him, and while he hoped that was true Tundra knew this would be his last run. Time had caught up with the old man, no matter how much he denied it to his team, and he would accept it when the time to finally stop racing came.

Smiling happily, The Lone Warrior walked over to Belle and sat down a decent distance away from her, keeping their personal spaces free of each others. If anything, Tundra was more than grateful for those on his team and he was very considerate of what others felt around him.

Training - Day One Belle

Belle's ears pricked up at the sound of Tundra's voice. She had become fast friends with all of the dogs on her team seeing as though their team was more of a family than a business. Of course each dog had their game faces ready to go for any intense racing but the instant the harnesses were off they interacted just as a normal pack of dogs would.

"As always Big T." She had her own little nicknames for each of the other dogs. While Tundra wasn't physically larger than she was he was older than she. His grey coat seemed to blend into the shadows on the snow from the building in front of them.

She was one of the youngest dogs on the team and was simply honored to be in the presence of an experienced racing dog.
